Marylebone Area Guide

Marylebone Area Guide

Crossing the Edgware Road to the east, Marylebone extends north of Oxford Street as far as the Marylebone Road and to Portland Place to the east. The green expanse of Regents Park to the north is a very attractive area for walking and relaxation. Property in Marylebone is generally less expensive than in Mayfair, but equally convenient for department store shopping in Selfridges, John Lewis and many other well-known retailers.

Developed as a residential area slightly later, the roads are wider and straighter and the properties generally a few storeys lower, giving the area a sense of light and space. Marylebone High Street has its own local charm with individual shops and coffee houses, and is growing in popularity as a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. The choice of property throughout Marylebone is good, with period townhouses around small and quiet residential squares, usually with private gardens for residents to enjoy. More recently-built apartment block offer spacious one, two and three bedroom apartments, usually with 24-hour porterage, some with gymnasia and often off-street parking.
