Victoria Area Guide

Victoria Area Guide

Victoria Station gives its name to the immediate area around it, but it is not a recognised residential area, more a complex of underground lines, mainline train stations and coach depots. These connect with all parts of Greater London and the southern Home Counties of Kent, Sussex and Surrey and beyond, including the main London airports. Residential properties (usually classified as being in Westminster) include elegant mansion blocks just off Victoria Street, Vauxhall Bridge Road and Horseferry Road. Victoria has many restaurants and bars, and useful shopping along Victoria Street, including a Sainsbury’s supermarket, Marks & Spencer and the House of Fraser department store. Other underground stations nearby include Pimlico and St James' Park.

Between Parliament Square (outside the Houses of Parliament) and Victoria Station there are some attractive refurbished apartment blocks such as Artillery Mansions, and new buildings at Cardinal Place. The area around Westminster Cathedral, just off Victoria Street, is made up of elegant mansion blocks on Ashley Gardens, Emery Hill Street and Ambrosden.
